Officially Launching in mid October, Kia Philippines revealed the new Kia Stonic to the media recently. Clad in an eye-catching Most Yellow hue, to say that it made an impact is an understatement.

Joining its siblings, the Kia Seltos and Kia Sportage, the line now covers the whole crossover spectrum that will attract most age groups in the market. The Stonic is the entry level in sub compact category–An upgrade from the compact design, if you will.

Powertrain:

Purposed for inner city travels, the Stonic is powered by a 1.4 dual CVVT engine optioned with either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain has an output of 95 PS for the manual option and 100 PS for the automatic. Not impressive on paper, but combined that with a somewhat lightweight body; the well proportioned Stonic is 4,100mm long, 1,735mm wide and 1,532mm high with a 2,570 wheelbase, promises peppy performance with fuel efficiency to boot.

Inside

The interior is spaced to seat a driver and 4 passengers comfortably. It also provides multifunctional storage space with 60:40 full-fold flat rear seats. Even if the seats are still upright, it provides 325 liters of ample room for huge cargo a folding bike, or even a cooler for those outdoor adventures.

Of course, all that space is meaningless without entertainment. An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system—compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is standard. Also , USB ports are available for charging your mandatory gadgets.

Safety

Even if the Stonic is priced lower, it still has the usual amenities associated with more expensive SUVs; Rear parking sensor, rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, electronic stability control and hill start assist (EX variant) is much appreciated. Also, the 185-mm ground clearance offers confidence in traversing floodwaters. The smart entry and push start button provides convenience, not to mention bragging rights, to the user.

Aftersales

The Stonic comes with up to five-year or 160,000-km warranty, as well as with a 24/7 Roadside Assistance FREE for five years. By just contacting the Kia Customer hotline, customers will have access to Roadside Assistance, which covers Emergency Towing, Personal Assistance, Minor Onsite Repair, Medical Assistance and Information Service for a secured, enjoyable and worry-free ownership.

The Stonic is being offered at introductory price of PHP675,000 for the entry-level variant (LX MT), PHP785,000 for the middle-range (LX AT) and PHP875,000 for the top-grade—a special pre-launch price that will be accorded to those who will reserve until the official launch on October 15.
