Hino Motors Philippines unveiled its FL 10-wheeler truck, the latest in the medium duty 500 series line of trucks in an livestream event in its Facebook page last June 24, commiting itself to the needs of businesses even in the ‘new normal’.
Bearing the full model name FL8J, the new 10-wheeler 500 series truck utilises the J08E – a Euro-4 compliant turbocharged inline six cylinder engine, producing 280 horsepower and 824Nm of torque, mated to a 9-speed manual transmission. The company said that the new truck boasts a load capacity of 18,620 kilograms, as well as improved safety features, comfort, fuel economy (with a 320 liter fuel capacity) and reliability.

“Every part of the new truck unit is engineered to deliver powerful performance. Like its predecessors, the truck bears the premium Japanese quality Hino is globally known for. This new truck embodies Hino’s mission of making the world a better place by helping people and goods get where they need to go – safely, economically and environmentally responsible,” HMP President Mitsuharu Tabata said in a statement.
The FL is equipped with semi elliptical leaf springs all around as well as an ABS system to help with maneuverability and safety. It is also equipped with auto brake shoe adjuster and an air operated spring brake to assist during parking.

Hino’s Easy Start hill assist system is also fitted in the truck as well, The ES technology simultaneously allows the driver to reduce fatigue by resting their feet off the brake pedals and automatically releasing the brakes once the clutch is engaged, working on both forward and reverse gears, minimising driver fatigue and stress. An air seat suspension and floating cab suspension also ensures a more comfortable ride.
The 500 series FL 10 wheeler is now available in all Hino dealerships nationwide, and can be fitted in a wide variety of bodies, such as the aluminium van, wing van, dropside cargo, among others, and will start at PHP3,775,000.
