Offers 1 million km warranty
A returning Chinese car brand has made its comeback in the Philippine shores – Chery. Remember them?
United Asia Automotive Group Inc., distributor of Foton heavy duty vehicles in the Philippines, has brought back Chery in the Philippine market, with an all-SUV lineup, at the Solaire Tent in Pasay City.
Chery was first introduced to the Philippine market back in 2007 but did not fare well in a market dominated with Japanese and Korean cars. Having acquired Jaguar and Land Rover, Chery has stepped it up in order to become a worthy competitor to other mainstream brands in the market.

“The time is ripe for us to bring in a second automotive brand, and we are convinced that Chery Auto now has the right mix of design, features, technology, and pricing in its product line to make a strong impact on the Philippine market,” UAAGI president Rommel Sytin said.
The company has unveiled four new SUV models under the Tiggo name, starting with the Tiggo 2, Tiggo 5X, Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8. The Tiggo 8 is the company’s most luxurious SUV in the lineup, and features the same leather found in Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. The vehicles are now a far cry from what they initially offered back in 2007, featuring luxurious interiors, as well as high-tech features, such as the 10-inch infotainment screen found in higher end models. Moreover, exterior designs have completely evolved, featuring fluid lines and sharp creases.
All Tiggo models powered by a 1.5L VVT Euro-5 compliant four cylinder gasoline engine (turbocharged on the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8). The Tiggo 2’s engine produces 106hp and 135Nm of torque, mated to a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual, while the Tiggo 5X’s engine produces 114hp and 141Nm of torque, available in either a 5-speed manual or a CVT transmission. As for the turbocharged models, the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8, the engine produces 145hp and 210Nm of torque, and both are mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Prices (Estimated)
- PHP695,000 for the Tiggo 2,
- PHP818,000 for the Tiggo 5X

“We are excited to bring in Chery. The new cars possess all the brand values Filipinos now look for and we are convinced that the local market will warmly receive these latest models,” Sytin added.
Chery will provide its customers with a 1 million km warranty and 3-year preventive maintenance in all its models. Dealerships are found in North EDSA, Pasig, Pasong Tamo in Makati, Alabang, La Union, Cavite (Bacoor and GMA), Talisay in Cebu, General Santos, Cainta in Rizal, Iloilo and Cagayan De Oro.
