Lexus Manila just launched the 2020 Lexus RC F, in what was an unusual launch time at 7am on a Sunday. Many guests were baffled as why Lexus would hold an event at this ungodly hour – well, it took only a few minutes to realize that, what’s a more proper way to introduce a sports coupe, than with the distinguished sport car aficionados that hold court at Burgos Circle, BGC, as guests.
For you who just tuned in, the Lexus RC F is a compact executive two-door coupé, RC means “Radical Coupe” It has 2 layouts: Front-engine, rear-wheel-drive. and Front-engine, all-wheel-drive. Aside from a fresh new look, the new RC F boasts of lighter weight, without sacrificing “its sense of refinement and solidity.”
According to its engineers, extra rigid mounts were used to lessen power loss and transfer power better from the engine to the wheels. Powertrain is the legendary normally aspirated 5.0L 2UR-GSE V8,rated at 471hp, with a high of 530Nm of torque. Transmission is a tweaked 8-speed automatic, now with a higher final drive ratio for superior off-the-line acceleration.
New for 2020, is the revised intake routing and lower rpm trigger point for the secondary intake opening. The Blue color of the intakes is also stunning.
Lexus adds that “For the ultimate in standing start acceleration, the RC F now includes electronic launch control as standard. With a push of the button on the console, the system automatically adjusts the traction and throttle control for maximum acceleration from a stop. All the driver has to do is press and hold the brake pedal, engage the system, floor the accelerator to bring up the engine speed and release the brake.” This is the ultimate weapon for “acceleration trials” (read drag racing)
Huge Brembo brakes are caged by Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires (designed specifically for the RC F). Attractive titanium-hued rims add to that performance image.

The RC F will be available in six exterior colors:
- Radiant Red Contrast Layering,
- Heat Blue Contrast Layering,
- White Nova Glass Flake,
- Sonic Titanium,
- Graphite Black Glass Flake,
- And new to the RC F— Naples Yellow Contrast Layering
The interior of the RC F comes in three semi- aniline leather colors: Flare Red, White, and Black.
The 2020 Lexus RC F will have a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of Php 5,928,000.
