Motoitalia Philippines / Vespa Philippines held its FIRST Safety Riding Event in Mega Tent grounds in Libis, Quezon City last May 19. The event was open to all Vespa owners and enthusiasts who would like to learn how to properly ride and operate a Vespa scooter.
A whole day affair, Vespa started a 2-hour discussion on Riding Information/Attitude, Proper Body Positioning, Road Conditions. It was noted that some riders take these for granted, believing that they already possess the proper skills in riding. This session served as an eye-opener for most of the attendees, correcting some initial mistakes on positioning and balance.
After the discussion, all riders had a chance to test their new-found knowledge outside the tent. The instructors set up a course for a situational ride. The pylon -laden course was relatively easy but with a longer track. Mr. Charles Nolasco, an instructor from CRS77 Riding School, gave out helpful tips at the starting point. The team also ran alongside some newbies while giving directions. Three units of the Piaggio Ape, the tree-wheel business trikes were also available for test drives.
Other track activities; Slalom, Figure of 8, Roundabout, Hitting the Apex, Gas & Braking were also demonstrated and tried by customers and enthusiasts. There was also a Vespa merchandise on display, next to a pair of yellow Vespa S units.
