Logistics industry just got a needed boost from Isuzu
A year after the VT02 concept truck was shown at the Philippine International Motor Show last year, Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has unveiled the Traviz light duty truck at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
“The all-new Isuzu Traviz continues our tradition of providing not just reliable products but business solutions—reasons why, in the Philippines, Isuzu has been at the number-one spot for more than 19 years,” IPC President Hajime Koso said.
The Traviz was locally called the Traga in its home market in Indonesia, where it was assembled and consisted 42% of Isuzu’s sales there. Isuzu has finally brought in the Traga as the Traviz a year later to fill the gap in Isuzu’s lineup for a light duty truck that will compete against the likes of Mitsubishi’s L300. Apart from use for food businesses agriculture, cargo and logistics, this would also serve as a platform for future PUV vehicles.
Under the hood of the new Traviz is a 4JA1 BluePower 2.5 liter turbo inline 4 cylinder making 78 horsepower and 176Nm of torque, mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. This motor saw use in the old Isuzu Crosswind, albeit modified to Euro 4 configurations thanks to a newer ECU. Despite this, this truck can haul more than 1600kg worth of cargo regardless of the variant. IPC claimed that it boasts the smallest turning radius in its class at 4.5 meters, which gives it an advantage in narrower roads while carrying heavy cargo. With a spacious legroom, the Travis also provides a more comfortable and safer ride.
Two variants are available for the Traviz: the short wheelbase S model (starting at PHP 962,000) and the long wheelbase L model (at PHP992,000), regardless of body style. Air conditioning is optional, but an AM/FM radio with 2 speakers with USB, Bluetooth and AUX support come as standard. Most importantly, the vehicle comes with a 3 year or 100,000km warranty.
