Mazda Philippines just gave the media industry a sneak peek of the new Mazda 3. Presented was the new hatch and sedan models, now longer and wider. Based on the heralded Kai Concept, it now has a more aggressive fascia; with slimmer headlights and bigger grille.
The Mazda 3 is the most popular model among the Mazda line. It’s compact size and handsome profile is the main draw among enthusiasts, and hailed as one of the most stylish compared to its competitors. Coupled with the revolutionary SkyActive powertrain, the Mazda 3 indeed stands out.
The brief ceremony was lead by Mr. Steven Tan, President of Mazda Philippines and Susumu Niinai, GM of Asean Business Office Mazda Motor Corporation.
The new Mazda 3 will be powered by Mazda’s new SkyActiv-G engine. Enthusiasts hope for a more powerful engine, as the older variant is deemed a bit lacking in brute power. Maybe twin turbo power ala Mazda 6? Hopefully it will be offered in the future.
The interior is sleeker, with a more alluring in-dash info tablet, which is less obstructive now. Stitching gives a more striking accent against the gray interior color.
The wheel designs of Mazda has been hailed as one of the most attractive and innovative for the past model years. The new design is no exception. Some media personalities wished that these wheels were also offered in the aftermarket industry.
Styling queues also emphasized the “Kodo Concept”, a streamlined shape design that helped catapult the Mazda 3 popularity.
